i am currently looking for a job in the office industry. positions such as clerical, office assistant, receptionist, but i do not have experience in these areas. I cannot go directly to a Company and apply because what they need are the only experienced ones. So i went to 6 employment agencies(apple one, resource staff, office team, key-personnel, adecco, o'brien) because i thought they could help me get my dream career, ive gone through interviews, computer exams, and drug tests, BUT all they did was kept me hangin, like im wating for nothing. Everytime i call them for follow-up, they always tell me to just wait for their damn call. So, what do you think of them?

I have also experienced the same and could not found a job through such agencies. I would suggest you to look the daily news papers and find out some enterly level jobs, no matter of wages they, you must joint someone to get some experience.

A lot of the jobs at employment agencies are taken out of the news paper or Internet job search engines like Hot Jobs, Monster or Career Builder . They take their cut and you end up getting less. Plus they may cherry pick the good jobs for them selves that is why there is such a high turn over rate for the recruiters. Companies use agencies for short duration jobs or tedious filing. Quite often office temps get treated poorly and the agency will just send another candidate and tell you to wait some more and never call you back because you complained. If you can developer a relationship with the recruiter then they are more apt to call you.

How ever some companies do business with a specific contract agency and do not hire directly for lack of HR staff. Sometimes an agency can get you in the door at a very prestigious company. Some very large companies use agencies to screen candidates.

Try getting the job direct, agencies are just another lead for jobs that might not be advertised. When they do call you ask about duration, contract to direct, and benefits.

Agencies are great, but you have to remember that they are profit making businesses and aren't just there to get you a job, tehy look out for htier clients (the employers) first.

My advice is to become your own agency. Prit off a dozen copies of your CV (or more if you can) write covering letters (personalized ones) to each of the biggest companies in your area that you want to work for and send them a copy of your CV. Explain to them what you are looking for, what you want to earn and say that you know they don't have any positions right now but you would love to work for them and ask if they will keep your CV on file. I got 2 interviews this way this summer, at least you get a foot in the door.

Actually, employment agencies want a chunk of your first paycheck for having help you to find a job.
But it sounds odd that you had all those processes completed, yet no phone call.
You can look for data entry positions, or entry level positions within companies. They will promote from within. Apply on Monster.com.
Employers are always looking to hire. Or Craigslist.

Don't just sit and wait.
Good luck to you.
