gabbar by amjad khan can not be done justice to by anyone else.

amjad khan really best suited to the role gabbar. in 1975 at the time of casting stars of sholay, actually amitabh asked for the role gabbar. but the director didn't accept. amithab may also be suited to that role for some extent.

A good actor can do justice to any role, under a good director and with a tight script. So considering all three are in place in this case , why not ? However you will have to accept that there is going to be individual nuances which a new actor doing someone else's role will bring in. Comparisons sometimes can get odious in such cases. Both pieces should be seen in their own time, age and light.

this is news to me. i mean i m not a film freak but i do watch films. well anyways coming to the point whats Big B thinking about. Hes done the hero role of Sholay. now the villian of the new Sholay. so is he planning to do the heroine role of Sholay.... Basanthi!!!!!! in the future?

He can do justice to Gabbar's role but he can't match upto Amjad Khan's style and sense of acting....

Remember how he performed in Aankhein. He can look as villainous as gabbar, if he wants.I believe he can do it. But I doubt Ramu's ability to get that kind of performance from him.
