...Celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Its offensive and angers me that ppl who arent Irish celebrate St. Patrick's Day. First off, St. Patty's Day isnt about going out and getting drunk. I hate it when girls where "kiss me, Im Irish!" shirts and what not, when they arent Irish and dont have an ounce of Irish in them. So, why do non-irish ppl celebrate it? Personally, I think they do it as another excuse to drink.

im 100% irish and i absolutly LOVE st. Patrick's day!!

so i can also understand how you would feel about it but you know what, i think its better for people to be celebrating ireland EVEN if they have no connection AT ALL

its better than constantly criticising it because lots of people do that!!

i like the way people all over the world know about little old ireland it makes me feel really proud to be irish and we all know about how we have the repuatations, like drinking a lot and being friendly and all but i like that too!!

i hope this helps and aslong as people celebrate it in any way, im happy enough because its recognising our history and heritage and how many countrys can say that!! lol

good question, good luck and i hope this helped you =)

For the same reason Non-Christians celebrate Christmas. Its not only a Irish thing its a international holiday, most of us when we were in 2nd grade or something the teacher had us wear green to school or encouraged it and we colored leperchauns so its kinda a thing alot of us grew up celebrating no matter what we are.

P.S. Have you ever seen the movie Darby O'Gill? It is a classic movie about St. Patricks Day if your Irish yo gotta see it. It is very old and has Sean Connery in it when he was like 28.

"Dancin's no sin and drinkings' no crime...so long as you drink but one drink at a time."

Irish/Italian here.

I am Irish and Love when I am in a different county on St Patrick's days everyone seems to want to be Irish, its fun.
I do get a bit annoyed that when people hear you are Irish they say oh you like drinking!!
Its like that episode of the Simpson's were they have the St Patrick's day parade and it turns into a riot and Kent Brockman says" all this violence and drunkenness is this what we think of when we think of the Irish"

Unless Adam Sandler writes a St Patrick Day song to tell you who all is Irish like he did for Jews and Chaunaka...you won't know if anyone is Irish or not. I am Black Irish. That means I have black hair and blue eyes! I am not red headed like people think of as Irish. So you won't know who might be mixed with Irish. It offends me that you are fixated on the drinking and not on the real facts. Do you celebrate Mardi Gras...Are you Catholic? This is America...a melting pot. Most people have more than one country to claim heritage to. I am Scotch, Irish, Deutch, And English and then Choctaw.

Irish and those who wish they were Irish, huuraa Galic or pict come to thy druid and live with a good heart as I will die a worriors death and love a Goddess.of life. of a day when all who come are alike, that means it is a day when all are Irish.

Richard J. Daley, the "Boss" of Chicago from 1955 to 1976, use to say that on Saint Patrick's day everyone was Irish. That may was as Irish as you can get.
