At a given point in time

Knowledge is the baby already born.
Imagination is the mother to conceive future babies.

Knowledge is the gist of events already happened.
Imagination is the seed of future events to happen.

Knowledge is finite. Imagination is boundless; the conceiver of ideas and, consequently, knowledge itself.

A slight digression: I once read about a Holocaust survivor recounting her days in the concentration camps as a young girl. In order to keep her will to survive, she'd spend hours daydreaming and imagining being a mother in the future. She said that this probably saved her; because it shielded her from dwelling on the harshness and reality of what was happening, whereas those people she saw who insisted on focusing on the present didn't last. For her, imagination helped her hope.

Knowledge is drawn from the past and present. Imagination reaches into the future and beyond.

To a point, I do agree that imagination is better than knowledge, but ones imagination is limited if you don't have the knowledge of things to fuel it. Wanting to think outside the box is a good thing, but it never hurts to keep yourself informed on what others are discovering as well.

Anyone can obtain knowledge. If you don't "know" something you can learn it. Not everyone has imagination and it can't necessarily be learned. Imagination is the source of inspiration, creativity, invention. Imagination is what sets the genius (like Einstein) apart from the masses. A visionary who can see beyond knowledge (basic facts). Imagination makes anything possible. It is the source of greatness.

On this, I disagree. Knowledge is power is a true statement. If we didn't have knowledge first, then how could we all read your question? Imagination gives one the power to soar like and eagle without ever leaving his chair. The two go hand in hand, imagination gives us the right to ask, "what if",that is as well creativity..

Imagination and knowledge both are important. But knowledge is extremely limited like a drop in the ocean whereas imaginations are like a vast ocean. Imaginations give birth to knowledge. Imaginations are conceived by our sense organs and knowledge is attained by our brain.

Only a genius can say such things, which is beyond the comprehension of non-genius or people with normal IQs. However in general life, i m of the opinion that IMAGINATIONS ARE FIRED BY KNOWLEDGE. Lesser knowledge lesser imagination, on the face of it atleast this is what i think.
we find in old scriptures that KNOWLEDGE IS THE KEY TO.......
However, each one to his own, but imagination alone cant do things that knowledge can. though its a killer combination.
But between knowledge and imagination, knowledge wins hands down, for me, for now. :)

Well, I believe that knowledge is an important element in order to have imagination. I think imagination is important for all of us to have because it can give us an escape from reality sometimes when we need it.
