こんにちは、

It really is a wonderful question, Imchan. People should really think about this.

I believe that robots are almost all beneficial to humanity. But the control of robots, and the use of automated systems to produce in place of humans, has brought great calamity upon many communities in the world.

The replacement of workers, farmers, and industry with robotic technology will always bring strife, even if the robots ultimately mean good for all humans. It is the cultural framework that suffers during the time of upheaval.

So the robots are not, themselves, detrimental. But the process of introducing robots into our communities is not beneficial.

Robots beneficial (industrial robots):
Do dangerous jobs not safe for humans
Do highly accurate repeatable work person cannot do
Do very fast job with no mistakes
Do jobs humans cannot due to space or flexibility limitations of humans,

Robots detrimental:
Take jobs from unskilled workers and creates job for highly skilled engineers who may be better employed elsewhere.
If robots are made and controlled by humans who dont have best interests in mind, robots may have no system of morals/ethics: e.g. future robot soldiers
In the future robots could be used as child minder, this maybe unsafe or bring children up with inappropraite behavior.

beneficial to work, yes
beneficial to life, ............probably not.

Technology is getting complex enough to be accessable at its deeper levels by fewer and fewer people. Robots seem to be the blending of computers and heavy machinery, and both of those things are already in the hands of a few, really. They have the makings, along with nanotech, etc. to create a real power imbalance globally, with control in the hands of a technocracy.
