why don't people try to sell their houses before they go to foreclosure?

We Don't Want To Move. Why do you people keep harassing us after we say no? For that matter perhaps we have things underhand and we don't need to sell. I did and I do have things under control now. And didn't sell my house.

They are not always in a position to, as this would mean having to move. If they can't afford the house payment, how are they going to afford moving and expenses?
Having a foreclosure is very stressful, especially if that has been brought on by a sudden job loss, an illness, or a marital breakup. People are not always at their best at these moments. I certainly was not. Fortunately, I was able to sell the house later...but not before the foreclosure process had begun.

Investors can sometimes buy people's homes before they go into foreclosure. Listings such as foreclosure.com give investors and lenders the information so that they may help people before they get a foreclosure on their credit score. Many owners are apathetic however, and are not recessptive to any help.

1) They just don't believe that they are going to lose their house.
2) They're hoping something comes through for them.(sub-set of 1)
3) They've got no equity in the house so they figure it's easier to just let the bank take the house...Depends upon the loan sometimes you will still owe afterwards.

Some people try but have no success. Some people know they can refinance, but do not want a huge rate. Some people just don't care and feel like they cannot save their home. Some people just get screwed..."When it rains, it pours."
