How can I tell what is the best Foundation shade for my skin type. Also any recommendations on best Makeup Company I should go for with sensitive skin. I sometimes break out, but nothing really major, just once in a while and just one or two breakouts.. Thanks

I can solve both your problems with one answer.Bare escentuals Bare mineral foundation is the best you can buy. It's the purest most gentle makeup on the market and the colors are pretty forgiving. It is expensive but worth it. if you buy the starter kit they send you 2 shades ,a bronzer type powder, mineral veil finishing powder, and three high quality brushes. It cost about 60.00 dollars. Then you buy refills as needed but they do last awhile. It would probably cost roughly the same if you bought the dept store brands and you are getting amuch better product. Ive been using it for a year and ahalf and Ive noticed a huge improvement on my skin.If you put it on in the morning it lasts all day (maybe just a touch up or two)It's lightweight and feels like nothing on your skin and it looks like you are wearing next to nothing. And the coverage is amazing.Plus it is actually good for your skin.the website is www.bareescentuals.com Good luck

Regarding the foundation color, you should put it up to the most natural part of your skin that gets as much exposure to sun as your face, because that'll give you the most accurate color to your face. This part would be your hands, because the top is exposed to the sun like your face. Try a few colors of foundation, and see what looks best.

As for the best Makeup Company for sensitive skin, BARE ESCENTUALS, or also known as I.D. - BARE MINERALS, is expensive, but the most amazing, healthy makeup you can use. Compared to drug store products that contain generally 15 ingredients (ie. preservatives, coloring, chemicals, etc), Bare Minerals only has 5 necessary ingredients, giving your skin the least exposure to chemicals as possible while giving you full coverage.

Stores such as ULTA, Ulta.com, or other major cosmetic stores in your area will carry this. It's about $25 per bottle, but let me tell you, this product works so well that you won't need a lot. A bottle can last me over 3 months if I apply it once a day.

Best of luck to you ;)

Your foundation should match your neck.
IT is easiest to test 3 different colors at once, in order to keep track of what color is what and which bottle that color came from. SO you would take a Q-tip and make a line with each color on your jawline, tap in the color with a different finger for each color, and give it a second to make any chemical changes that make occur from your particular skin. Meaning it may change color. THEN hold your head over to one side a little, and look in a mirror to see if one of the colors matches your neck. YOU may have to go through this routine a couple of times. YOU must try the best color that past this test all over your face to ensure that it truly is a nice tone for you. SO that you don't look ashen or pink or orange or something.
I would suggest going to a Clinique counter and get fitted with a color and a loose powder to set your foundation with. This will help it last longer. They have a lot of different formulas for different skin types, plus they guarantee their product. This means if you have any problems with it you can bring it back. If you attempt to do all of this matching in drug-store brands, you will end up spending more than you would with Clinique.

First, you have not told us your skin type- oily or dry, color- dark, fair, latino, chinese, white. Skin outbreaks may be caused by incompatible makeup but it is also a combination of your diet, lifestyle and health hygiene especially in taking very good care of your body and your skin. Expensive makeup does not guarantee beautiful skin nor does over-the-counter medications will do either. It is how you care for your skin that matters. If you think sleeping late causes you breaks, then sleep early. If eating junk and fatty food makes your skin oily, go for fruits and veggies and sometimes there's really nothing like fresh bare skin with that natural glow that exudes from a simple yet beautiful woman. Try to see your dermatologist and solicit her advice. But in the end, it is still you who really knows whats best for you.

Don't poke fun but I use Mary Kay...for a cleanser and moisturiser, it works well and I have very fair skin and sensitive also...been using it for 25 years my friend had a party when I was 16 and I have never changed it...also I use Lancome foundation I love it and so do my 19 and 23 year old daughters they also use the mary kay...the Lancome girls are so nice...its about 20 something dollars for a foundation but if you get on the mailing lists you can get it when they have gift with purchase thats what we do...we usually pay for the foundation and get a lipstic and eyeliner and eyeshadow, along with a makeup case for the gift with purchase all for under 30 dollars. go to the local mall and go do dillards of macys to the lancome counter they will give you a make over and they are very helpful all for free...and whey my daughters or I have somewhere to go that we need a good make over we go their and they give us a makeover...my girls did this for prom and homecomming and senior pics and partys, etc...

good luck ...give this a try...

vote for me if you like my answer...k...

A little pricey, but I had the same problem, Clinque. Mary Kay is also a great brand, especially for sensitive skin.

I have used Clinque for over 4 years and I don't mind spending the money for the make-up. The make-up never feels or looks heavy, and they have a great selection on foundations.

I have Psoriasis and I found the most gentle and non-irritating makeup is made by Clinique. Also, testing the makeup color on the arm is the universal suggestion, but I've found it to be over-rated because most women do tan on the arms, but not the face, so the makeup most times is too dark. Usually, the most effective way to match your makeup is to let someone at the mall do it for you. It is totally FREE, and they can also suggest a good brand for your sensitive skin...........that is how I found Clinique! =) Good luck!

First of all...DO NOT test foundation on ur hand, wrist etc... the texture and tones on your face is somewhat different. Try blending it into your jawline and see wat shade disappears...this will give u your best match. As for recommendations, you will just hav to research different brands and see which ones accommodate your skin type or go to a Beauty Salon, they can help u.. Clinique is excellent for sensitive skins. Good Luck:)

Dream Matte Moose is the greatest makeup invention ever. it doesnt make you break out, and its effective regardless of whether you use it to cover a major break out, or just even out a tiny patch of skin, the shades are really easy to match, you can barely tell you have makeup on and it lasts a long time

Check out Arbonne color cosmetics. They are hypoallergenic and avoid using toxic chemicals that you find in a lot of other brands.

To find your best foundation shade, you have to test it on your skin, the shade that "disappears" into your natural tone is the right one.

If you'd like to try Arbonne's foundation color selector for free, just email me!
