I have studied Finite Element Method as part of my undergraduate civil engineering course. We mainly used Strand 7 to analyse displacements, Stress and strain of a structure. Strand 7 is pretty much easy to catch up with. beside the software package you will learn how to analyse structures by hand. basically it depends on matrices. you will learn how to analyse bars, trusses, beams and frames. these structures follow pretty much the same method. In general it is not a hard unit. good luck
