why do some people discriminate the ugly ones?

I've known many people with pretty faces and most of them does not want to have an ugly partner.Is the physical appearance of a person does really matters?Why is there such a behavior like this?

Well, people like beauty (beautifully car, apartment....). Beautiful people have advantages. People feel good around them (maybe they are even in love with them), while they feel uncomfortable around ugly people.
