It would depend on your wants and needs. Condoms work but they arent the best method.
The pill is good, if you remember to take it (I never could), depo provera is easy and basically care free, but now youre not supposed to be on it for more than 2 years because after that it lowers your bone mass, the patch works and is pretty easy, but its visible and some people are irritated by the glue. The nuva ring works as well, but the idea makes some uncomfortable and some people can feel it and they don't like that.
I personally use the paraguard IUD, works for 10 years and you never have to worry about it. Most doctors wont do it if your under 25 though, and the insertion is kind of painful (but for less than 3 seconds), and its expensive (but cheaper when you figure it for 10 years). But you have to be extra careful to stay in a monogamous relationship while using it. Can have longer/more painful periods, but a midol fixes it for me.
The minera IUD is another option, the paraguard doesn't have hormones (but is just as effective), but the minera does. Lighter/less painful periods for some. Same issues with age and relationship status though.

Your best bet is to double up on birth control methods. Condoms are completely safe and are even more effective when paired with other things like spermicidal gel or the sponge. The woman should go to an OBGYN to discuss her options, in fact it may be good for you to tag along too as a medical doctor will know all the newest methods out there for birth control like the Nuva-Ring or the many types of pills, and they will be able to tell you which kind is right for you. Education is EVERYTHING!

the best contraceptive is abstainence! after that there are a few surgical alternatives, Tubes tied, vasectomy, then there's the pill or patch or condoms.
Then there's the chatholic contraception, an asprin, for the ladies keep it between your knees all night, for the guys, put it in your left shoe, it makes you limp!!

Considering I don't trust my husband I make him use a condom. But for you I would say the pill.

AN IUD. IT LASTS FOR TEN YEARS, IT'S PRIVATE AND DISCREET, YOU CAN'T SEE IT , THERE'S NO SIDE EFFECTS. I'VE HAD 1 TWICE, THEY ARE THE BEST.
