Get the basic checking because it's cheaper and no hidden costs. Just keep track of the number of checks you write and balance your books.

EZ CHECKING is the best. this account type has 3 good options to avoid a service fee 1) maintain $1500.00 average monthly balance OR 2) get a direct deposit in your checking OR 3) make 2 bill payments online every statement. u can make bill payments online to anyone within the US absolutely free. AND you can write as amny checks as you want. with a ez checking u can open a linked saving account where you dont have to maintain a minimum and fees are waived. "EZ SAVINGS "the best and it gives u a APY of 5.00%

CitiBank is terrible. My husband used to work there. They have a way of adding all kinds of overdratf charges onto your account. They wait to update transactions leading you to believe you have more than you actually have all in the name of overdraft charges. If i were you go with Bank Of America. They have the best customer service and dont charge tons of overdraft.

Make sure all checks or other charges have cleared and that you have cancelled any automatic deductions. Then go to the bank and close the account.
