Theft of US mail is a felony. I would call the FBI, because there is probably a ring doing this. I would tell your local police, as well.
Get a locking mailbox, and set it in a big chunk of concrete.

I just had to look into this today, as the little brats across the street like to take mail out of people's boxes. They aren't stealing for anything serious like identity theft, but it is still annoying, and also extremely illegal.
The person to contact is your local post office. They have some sort of investigative procedure that they go through at that level, and if they feel they need to contact someone higher up the food chain, like the FBI, then they do so. But they are set up to handle the primary investigation. Let them know what's going on, and ask them how you should proceed. They will get you started.
Best of luck to you. Having your mail stolen is inconvenient, and also uncomfortable. We have had stuff taken before, and it is unpleasant wondering who's running around with your personal information. In all honesty, the fact that I know it's just the kids across the street doesn't make me feel much better, as I never know where it can end up from there.

People steal mail in order to steal your identity so in a month or so check your credit reports to see if someone is using your name, SS#, phone number, etc. And check your bills for strange charges and report them.
You can contact your post office who delivers the mail and tell them you want to talk with the security officer regarding your mail having been stolen. A police type person will come and talk with you and get your statement. Whether or not they can trace anything is their concern. The point is, you've told them.
I know it costs money, but open yourself a lock box type of mail box, have your mail transferred there, and then go pick up your mail from the new place (maybe once a week).
Ask your neighbors if they are having the same problem with their mail. Is your mail box being singled out? Maybe the neighbors have seen who goes into your box...could it be kids coming from school?

Contact both police and post office. Police to report the mail being stolen and the post office to say that you want a locked mail box. I would get a PO Box.

You should contact the USPS right away. Talk to the post office about getting a mailbox with a lock on it that the letter carrier can access. Worst case, you can have the post office hold your mail for you to pick up. Perhaps do that for a while until the thief gives up and goes elsewhere.
How awful for you. Too bad the thief isn't PAYING your bills after they steal them!

About the only thing you can do is to lodge a complaint with Royal Mail although knowing how the mail system actually works there is not much you can actually do. About the only time a postie will get dismissed is if they have been found by the Postal service to be opening mail and stealing money or burning mail but that is something that happens from within the postal service and can only be proven when evidence is found.

You can start with the process of contacting officialdom by notifying the post office, however, to stop vandals, I would recommend that you get a lock key door installed to your mail box so that it stays secured and only you can open it with your own key.

Just go to the post office and discuss it with the postmaster. They could probably arrange for you to pick your mail up there or you could get a PO box.
