and if this is possible can it infect your console with a glitch?

"Counterfeit" games or "backups" as people like to call them do exist, as for infecting your console that is not likely. A PS2 cannot be infected with a virus or a glitch due to a lack of a native memory store like a Hard Disk (HDD) with an installed operating system. The PS2 HDD is simply a file store, in addition to this 99% of virii is targetted at windows operating systems, so you are safe. :)

However, usage of copies can damage the laser in your PS2, as copies are burned differently to original game discs in some cases the PS2 DVD laser has to work for longer to read the grooves from the disc (similar to when a disc is damaged and it takes longer than it used to when loading games). When you have your console chipped, some people who do this also increase the power to the DVD laser so it doesn't have these problems, as a result it shortens the life expectancy of the DVD unit in a PS2. With all that said I have my PS2 chipped, by the time the laser unit dies the console has been superseeded by something better, in this case the PS3 is only 4-5 months away. :)

you need to have a special chip installed in your ps2 before you can use those counterfeits, and no, it cant cause damage, unless the savegame corrupts you memory card, and that would be exceptionally rare..anyway it is illegal unless you are making a backup of your game.

You may be looking for a mod chip? Search them on google. The Xcuter or however you spell it works great. My brother has one.

Installing the chip, does void the warranty.
