People/students get tongue rings because they are ignorant to the extreme damage they could cause their body for such a stupid reason. They also have a misguided notion that it sets them apart in a good way. That is not true. It does set them apart, but only as a highlighter to their ignorance and idiocy.

i seriously doubt that many getters of tongue rings have oral sex as their primary motivation. the people in this group are most likely to be either people in established relationships who want to spice up their sex life, or homosexual males.
the primary motivation is to make oneself ever-so-slightly-more sexually titillating, which of course is a goal of almost every young person, as long as the titillation stays within societal norms, and having a pierced tongue is certainly well within current norms.
as for your example, no girl interested in having sex wants to be known as a "goody goody." one of the messages she's giving by getting a tongue ring is "i want to have sex." right?

Well, that's closed minded. Maybe she got the tongue ring and didn't know about it enhancing oral sex either. After all you don't really know either that's why you're asking isn't it? Doesn't mean she's having sex. Kind of jumping the gun , huh?

I think its one of the stupidest things anybody can do to "enhance" their looks or sexuality or ? I looked at the article on the subject. Enlightening.
Personally, I have never have had oral sex with such a thing, but I cannot understand why having a ball bearing in a girls mouth would enhance my pleasure. I think I would be in pain.

they probably think it's cool, but i'd think it's cause for infection since there's a ton of germs in your mouth and food could get caught around the hole. There's this article on yahoo news today about tongue rings and association with pain.

I think its just another fad, another thing to do to feel special. It looks ugly and must be uncomfortable, but anything to be "in".
