I have a few VCR and camcorder videotapes that I'd like to convert to mpeg and put on a dvd. I'd like to get a USB video capture card so that I can get the videos on to my computer. I went to a Mac store, and the "genius" suggested a digital-to-audio convert that cost $270. I'd like to spend significantly less.

I don't have a digital video camcorder -- just old VCR tapes and analog camcorder tapes.
