Okay, my close friend just came out of the closet over an email, and I don't have and idea how to help him feel more comfortable. He's a year younger than I am, so in eighth grade. He said that he'd been keeping it a secret for many years and is afraid to tell his parents.

What do I do???

actually, you've already help your friend because you accepted him as the person he really is. keep encouraging him to embrace his real self no matter how hard the outcome will be. just support him until he could stand up on his own

Just keep being his friend and not treating him any differently now that he has come out. Telling someone you are gay has to be one of the hardest things to do, so by telling you he is saying that he trusts you 110%. Don't tell others what he has told you, it is up to him if and when he tells them.

Be there for him just as you were when he was 'straight',

Well I have allot of guy friends and all i can say is be there for him and don't judge him at all? Let him know that you are there for him? Just because his gay doesn't mean his different from other people he still is a person? So just be there for him that's all? Good luck?

accept his way of life and still be friends...be supportive and understanding...coming out is nerve racking at any age, especially at his age...cotinue friendship like it has always been..he is the same friend regardless of his choices in his personal love life....
