I think it depends on your type of skin also

past papaya soaps were good as they contained more vitamins good for changing your complexion into a banana-like one. The idea has been spread and there's been scarcity in papaya produce so there is a need to lessen the vitamins that were supposed to be contained in a papaya soap. With this, more or less, papaya soaps aren't too believable.

It's better to be brown or black as there isn't any term like "White Beauty" because people with fairer skin are simply white but not beautiful....

My wife uses this soap, but I really don't think it works a lot. The best idea is to stay out of the sun, wear long sleeved blouses when it's sunny etc. It's ironic that white people sit in the sun to get tanned while people with brown skin would like to be whiter!

Whitening soaps wont do magic to your skin in a month, actually it depends on the type of skin tone you have. If you are black definitely you wont get white with soaps alone, if you are brown it will depend on skin tone. If you really want to be whiter try consult a dermatologist for skin bleaching.

it probably does not actually lighten the skin, but with repetitive use it probably leaves a thin film coating on the skin and therefore appears as though your skin is lighter. I say your own color is most likely beautiful already so stop wasting your money .

i don't think those soaps work because it's cheap. try other whitening products from other (expensive) brands. Clinique has a whitening line, there's also Shiseido. they're expensive but it works.
