I can understand your confusion. The page doesn't really shout about it, but yes, it appears to be an HDTV set.

Firstly, at the top of the page underneath where it gives the model number it says: 50" Plasma Integrated HDTV

If you also look a little further down under "Key features" it indicates two specifications which are necessary for HDTV:

HDMI with HDCP
1366 x 768p Resolution

The first is the encrypted digital connection required to ensure the TV can receive an HDTV signal. The second demonstrates it supports one of the required HDTV resolutions.

So it appears the TV supports everything necessary to be compatible with HDTV signals. I hope this helps answer your question.

For your reference, LG also has a page on their site about HDTV. http://us.lge.com/GuidetoHDTV/what/index.html

Yes it's an HD TV -- but: I wasn't able to verify that this TV can do 1080p. It's native resolution is 720p, based on the pixels it has. This is certainly not unusual, as the majority of HDTV's these days do 720p native.

That set does have 2 HDMI inputs, an HDTV tuner, and most everything that you want. It appears to be able to upsample to 1080i, so again the only thing it seems to be missing is 1080p.

What would this effect? Not much these days, as 1080p is the promise of HD-DVD or BluRay. Neither has much penetration yet, and with only a handful of titles, it's not that big of a deal at present, or if you plan to hook up to digital cable, an antennae, or satellite TV, all of which are something less than 1080p.
