There are 2 points in your question :
1. Whether Greek people believe in Greek mythology
2. (it is not clear) I assume your question relates to whether people believe in the 12 Gods of the mythology?

1. Greek mythology is not a matter of just believing or not to it. We must accept that this is the first source of our history and it contains historical facts. People prior to start righting they used the oral way to transfer knowledge to the next generations. The mythological stories contain real facts based on the experience and the way people could explain them. It is a matter of scientists to explain them in the correct way.
Let' s see an example:
"In myth Crete was ruled by King Minos, who periodically demanded a tribute of young men and maidens of Athens to be sacrificed to the Minotaur, the monster of the Labyrinth."Based on the Mythological texts the archeologists tried to discover Labyrinth. A palace with several rooms and streets (just like Labyrinth) does exist and has been escavated by arcaeologists at Knosos position. For what concerns the sacrification there are several explanations, one of which says that apparently the taxes that Minos was requesting from his citizens were so high that people invented this story.
Historical facts were transferred from generation to generation in a symbolic matter and this is our difficulty today to distinguish the reality from myth and to explain their symbols.
Scientists work very hard on that but in no way we can refuse that Mythology is a source to identify historical facts. The point is to identify and distinguish the real facts isolating them from people's imagination.

2. For what concerns the second point I have to mention that the 12 Gods represented nature (Rea = Earth, Ouranos=Sky etc). People had not the scientific knowledge to explain nature therefore they personalized the physical phainomenon and they gave them human shape and feelings. But we must bear in mind that Mythology is not only the 12 Gods. The 12 gods are part of the Greek Mythology.
Today in Greece we believe in Christianism. However there is a small group of people that they believe in the 12 Gods. For further info on this see my reply (Number 19) at :

Greeks are Christian Orthodox.

No one believes in the Ancient Mythology Gods. It's just part of our heritage, like the Iliad and Homer, Socrates, Euripides etc.

It's the same with Italians. They don't believe in the Roman Gods. They are Christians.

Apostoles Peter and Paul went to Greece and spread Christianity.

The Apostle Paul persuaded the Greeks that the Unknown God came down from Heaven, lived and died like a man, raised from the dead and ascended into Heaven. For the past 2 Millennia, Greeks have believed in Orthodox Christianity. Now, fraternal organizations like AHEPA have conspired with the Greek Orthodox religious leaders to turn back the clock 2,400 years to the Hellenistic area and erase Christian Conversion:

Greek Mythology is not believed anymore although is taught in Greek schools as part of our history and culture.

But there are people who actually believe in the 12 Gods of Olympus who are part of Greek Mythology. Noone can blame them, we have democracy after all.

My Father was born in Lymnos, Greece. He, like most people there, are now Greek Orthodox.

The greeks are more than primed to tackle this query with typical Hellenic gusto. They've been awake since 5am and have already made burnt offerings to Zeus before a continental breakfast and and quick dip in the Adriatic.
