lol How does that deprive you of privacy Chia? The only rights the libs care about are the ones they lost when people starting waking up to the fact that they don't have a clue as to how to help run a country of free people who thrive from an economy built on capitalism. They want to "liberize" America even more than it is and we don't want that or do we?

Really, we don't have to use hard fast sites as most of the rights are common knowledge.
The patriot act is an assault on the right to privacy. In the library in which I volunteer, we stopped keeping records as to what books a patron has borrowed once those books are returned becuase the patriot act would have required the library to report persons who borrowed certain books, or to give that information to the government. We recognized that we wanted no part in such an invasion of privacy and no longer keep these records.
The wiretapping of telephones wihtout judicial warant is another assault on privacy. See article below.
I read a couple of articles, which I am not able to find just yet, I'll post them if I do find them, where a man made a payment on his credit card after receiving a bonus from his company. He went to use his card and was informed that because of the Patriot Act, and having paid an unusual amount of money, his credit card was frozen.
The interrogation and holding of prisoners is an assault on the constitution as it denies the right to fair and speedy trial, the right to confront your accusers and the right to not be treated in an inhumane way.
We should also enjoy the right to be told the truth by our government. We were led into this war by the fabricated threat of WMD, when, in fact, our president had already decided to go in whether or not such weapons were found.
I really don't have time to fully document this, and don't really want to do work for lazy people. The information is out there if you want to look at it. Also, .orgs are not necessarily unnewsworthy sites. Many churches and newspapers have .org addresses and many .coms are full of crap.
As to what I said, they are all verifiable facts, and if you find a specific one that you're too lazy to look up, email me and I'll direct you to it.

Websites??? If you don't know or haven't heard of what's been going on these last six years then you obviously aren't concerned with what we've all lost---this isn't a partisan question--what Chimpy, Chaney, Rummy, and Rove are trying to accomplish or have already done should have you crappin your pants!!!! http://www.commondreams.org/headlines06/1008-02.htm
Sorry your getting this dot.org because it contains plenty of information for you to read and research for yourself.
How bout the right to protest without going to a fenced in area two blocks away?
How bout the right to attend a party function while wearing an anti-bush slogan or t-shirt?
How bout the right to know who he is wiretapping and why via a FISA court warrant?
How bout the right to keep an American job here instead of shipping it to China or some other third-world country?
Do you even know what Habeus Corpus is? How bout Magna Carte? Go think now --

As coryande.. refers to in her link to http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c109:4:./temp/~c109f7E2fa::, if you look at section 7, e 1, it refers to alien detainees only in the "loss" of habeas corpus rights, which no non citizens have had in the past.
Americans have lost no rights at all since 9/11.
In fact many Americans, including those in the media have screamed, written and communicated misinformation every which way
about the Patriot Act, Homeland Security measures and other law enforcement measures which are needed due to changes in technology and Congress' refusal to allow law enforcement to keep up with social and scientifiic changes in our world.
I remember the 60's and 70's when people were beaten for protesting. Has that been happening and I haven't noticed? I don't think so. Instead, I have heard a bunch of whining hysterics incited by politicians and the media making up stories!
Just because you can cite the Congressional site and the bills there, doesn't mean that you are telling the truth or have even read the text of the bill. Maybe you have lost your capacity to tell truth from propaganda, and it probably involves an ignorant disdain for Republicans. Please remember that Republicans died in their hundreds to keep the states together and drive out the horror of slavery from our part of the world.
I wish I had a link to the speech given on the floor by Diane Feinstein in regard to the Patriot
Act. It was at least a year ago, but she said very plainly that she had pleaded with the ACLU and other such groups for information and facts on any misuse ofthe provisions, like looking into library records. She couldn't find anything. It hasn't happened, except with a warrant and for child molesters.
Try to look at the reality of this issue, please, like the questioner.

Habeus corpus, suspended just this month.
I'm not going to explain the concept or do your homework for you, but you can read the actual text of the bill in question at the address below.
And to the commenter who offered this gem: "unless you are a terrorist, then none of your rights have been violated get a clue" That is just ignorant. It should read "unless you are SUSPECTED of being a terrorist, then none of your rights have ben violated." But even that isn't a complete satisfactory answer. Read about the case of Josh Connole, arrested in Pomona CA by the FBI and accused of committing a terrorist act (setting fire to a Hummer dealership). While it was eventually PROVEN that he did not commit the crime, he was investigated through the PATRIOT ACT by means that would not have been legal prior to September 11th.

I'm not a political person, nor am I particularly patriotic towards any nation or country, but boy I'm glad I'm not an American and doubly glad I never voted him in - torture written into law - boy, you flag waving, bible bashing, republican good old boys, are but a short step away from those jackboots... Shame on you all!
