Just curious of what you all think of the COT ( here are images http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2006/cot.h... ). I believe they are supposedly supposed to be safer (particularly more at SuperSpeedways and an addon or different package for restrictor plate problem) and great a more balanced field (i guess perhaps because they are all exactly the same now - even moreso than the cars of today). I love NASCAR (came into it with Davey Allison) and used to be able to name all the #'s and drivers respectively but i have been falling out of it slightly. I hate the fact NASCAR is completely more about money (I mean tickets were like $60 and going to practice and qualifying was free - now tickets are like base $90 i think and some tracks are ven more). I think NASCAR is ruining itself more and more by the minute and from the looks of it, they will pretty soon gonning to have drifting contests around Daytona with these cars....

I'll make my final judgment after I see the car in competition. Right now I have mixed feelings. The thing I do like is they are making an attempt to put more of the race into the drivers hands and not the engineers. By standing up the windshield a little bit and changing the air dams, the aero-dependence that we see so much now is not supposed to be as much of a factor.

I read arguments that people don't like the new design because the brand of car that each is supposed to represent isn't as evident anymore. Well, folks, it has been YEARS since we truly had a 'stock' car on the track. As long as the manufacturers are still willing to support the sport, I don't see it as a problem myself. Now, if they decide to start backing out, then NASCAR will have a problem. Until then, that isn't a factor to me.

I feel that the COT is a step in the wrong direction. NASCAR already has the cars to look nothing like a Monte Carlo, Charger, or a Fusion. If you want to see good racing, and cut the teams costs, go back to the stock, straight from the factory bodies. I have tried and tried, but I can not tell at Toyota, a Chevy, or a Ford COT from eachother. The Dodge it easy to spot because of the grille openings.

Heres an idea, if they want to make them more like the truck, why not make it the Nextel Truck series?

I hate the rear wing and that dumb front end. How long do you think that front piece will last at Bristol and Martinsville? Not to mention pieces breaking off and cutting tires. That rear wing will look nice once the car backs into the wall even a little bit. As it is now, you can at least try to repair the car. Nascar is doing it's best to alienate me as a fan more and more every day. And they wonder why TV ratings are falling off. I can live with all the other changes and the fact that every car is identical, but that front end has got to go!

I have mixed feelings about it. I think that it does kind of get away from what Nascar has been about for all these years--racing cars that the public can idetify with. On the other hand, It would make it more like IROC racing where the cars are equal and showcases driver talent rather than one manufacturer having an "aero" advantage over another.

They don't look like car that should be in Nascar. They look more like cars driven in that drifting series. I don't like the front, the way the front dents in and the spoiler looks silly. But if it is going to be safer that will be ok then and it dont affect the racing.

Don't care for it, NASCAR is getting away from it's original 'Strictly Stock' format it initiated in 1948. It's really sad that most, (eventually all?), 'traditions' are being thrown away. The 'Car of Tomorrow' looks like it should be running in the SCCA Trans-Am circuit.

i like it....i mean with the wing and air dam at the bottom, it look more "raci" it kinda fits into the "hook-up" your car theme....anyways...im always open minded when new stuff comes out, always like the change, just like when the restrictor plates came out or the points system changed. it is said that the cars will bring more competition, like the trucks, and if you haven't watched the trucks race lately, they are very competitive, very exciting to watch. im all for it, nascar has to keep changing as time goes on, to make racing more exciting, draw more fans, and more importantly, keep up with the other racing series as far as technology goes....thats my take on it..

real nice. nascars talking about starting them earlier than talledaga, because of new pavement there and cost of super speedway cars. the new dodges were fastest so far. toyota was close also. but most as always were chevys.

Overall I think that it will help out in several areas but when I see the spoiler that they have that has to go.It is almost as bad as the wing Dodge and Plymouth had years ago.

I personally think thats its ugly with the rear spolier thing sticking up in the back and the front is deff. different. But if it keeps the drivers more safe, then im all for it.
