Do you consider Plan B as a form of abortion? Even though it is an emergency contraseptive, is it okay or do you think it is wrong?

Just so you know, it was with the guy I have been with for 7 years and we're getting married Saturday. We weren't ready for a child and I feel guilty.

I wasn't sleeping around.

Plan B IS an abortive. It does not prevent fertilization, it prevents (sometimes) implantation of a fertilized egg thereby causing an early term miscarriage/abortion. (A miscarriage IS a spontaneous abortion) Plan B is NOT a contraceptive it is an abortive. And is only at best 80% effective at that. Contraceptives "rearrange" ovulation and "attempt" to prevent fertilization and are at least 97% effective.

Plan b stops an egg from implanting after the sperm reaches it. Some people think that the moment an egg touches sperm it is a baby, but how can it be unless it has a place to grow? Not every egg that fertilizes implants, and your body isn't pregnant unless it does.
However, if you have an egg that becomes fertilized and implanted, and you take Plan B even the moment after the egg has implanted, the drug won't affect or harm it.

If you define abortion as a way of terminating a pregnancy, then this cannot be considered and abortion pill, because if you are pregnant then it will do no harm. The reason why it is considered birth control is becuase it stops a person from getting pregnant. An egg gets fertilized - a person gets pregnant (with a fertilized egg). Where most birth control stops an egg from getting fertilized, plan B stops the fertilized egg from impregnating the woman. It does not stop a pregnant person from being pregnant.

I don't consider it a form of abortion because the chromosomes and all those other itty bitty parts have hardly had a chance to form. However, i think that having this available like it is is going to cause more unprotected sex and we could see an increase in STD's. I say this because some (not all) people only associate pregnancy with condoms, and don't really think about STD's. If they can just go to the store and buy the pill, they may not bother with condoms.

I don't think it's a form of abortion. I think it's a great thing. If more people who were not ready for children would think about this then we wouldn't have as many abortions. I agree that it's not a form of birth control and shouldn't be used as one.

Plan B is in no way a form of abortion, it is taken way before conception takes place. I think it is wonderful. In a perfect world, people should be responsible and liable for their actions. Sadly, there are too many unwanted children in this world.

Well i hate the idea of an abortion, i mean why not give the little one a chance to live. Give it up for an aboption so that it atleast have a chance at life. But i guess if you really have to then no its not wrong, its your choice.

While I am against abortion, I completely approve of Plan B, as long as it's not used in place of birth control methods like the pill, condoms, Nuva ring, etc.

As a mother of 2, and wanting to keep it that way for another few years, I think it is a wonderful idea. I consider a miraculous way of life, and I hope it helps prevent teens from becoming mothers and ending up on welfare. It is okay, I am pro choice, either way you look at it.

I think abortion is morally wrong, unless the baby is sick, and the pregnant person might die, then only will I think about adoption.
