Australia was settled just over 200 years ago by the English.
Bagdad was the cradle of civilisation 5000 years ago. Why haven't they progressed pasted the tribal stage?

western europe, north america and australasia have made more progress than other regions and the reason is democracy and the freedom of speech that came with it.

thru criticism and rational thinking we have been able to overturn many of the primitive tribal superstitions, (ie religions), that still shackle peoples minds in other parts of the world.

if our own religious fundamentalists ever get a stranglehold on power in the west, (and there are many stupid superstitious people in the west), we will start to have the same problems that other nations have.

The Arabs are not the problem, it's the radical Muslims. Not all Muslims are bad. Baghdad may be in the area that's considered the cradle of life but it hasn't been Muslim for 5000 years. If you want some good information, listen to Glenn Beck on the radio or watch his show.

They have progressed "pasted" (past?) the tribal stage. In fact they even had a form of democracy, long before the United States or other newer countries. I think you need to go and do some actual research and not base your knowledge on current events filtered through the media.

Paul made some nice points in his answer. Truthfully they probably feel the same way about the rest of the world. It still amazes me that even though we are all people and are made the same way, our social values and morals clash constantly. I also find it hard to believe that a religion has been so horribly warped and misinterpreted by extremists to kill innocent people who do not share the same view.... that sounds more like Satan than any God. The important thing to remember is that the EXTREMISTS are not always the majority and to not judge everyone else because of them..... sometimes easier said than done.

They are living in the past and holding a long-standing grudge.
In the time of the crusades(looking for the Holy Grail) Christian knights were also supposed to protect all the churches so the muslims couldn't control or destroy them. These crusaders were horrible to the muslim ppl; they raped the muslim women sometimes killing them afterwards. Many muslim men, women and children were killed. This is probably the root of why the radical muslims are the way they are.

First of all, the Allied Powers screwed the Arab nations after WWII when we redrew the maps, dissolving the Ottoman Empire and creating Iraq, Iran, etc.

Secondly, why does America think we need to be involved with Arabs "Getting their act together"?

It`s hard to progress as people when you get beat for not praying at the right time. From birth thier dominated and chained by religion and hate for any who dont share those beliefs.

Look at Iraq. We gave them freedom and they dont know how to act! They want to be told what to do, its all they know. They dont seperate church and state, its a means of controlling the population.

It has nothing to do with "getting their act together". It has everything to do about religion. They hate Israel and Judaism as well as the US and Christianity. They are willing to give their lives at any time for the sake of 72 virgins in heaven, that according to me, they'll never see.

Because they're too blinded by the hate that couches itself in religious terms. Hopefully, one day, they'll grow out of it and start loving their children more than they hate everyone else. Until that happens, nothing will change.

Their ignorance and confusion is dwarfed alongside of yours. It's not Arabs or Muslims that are terrorists. It's Fundamentalists. Muslim Fundamentalists, Christian Fundamentalists and Bush Fundamentalists.
Especially Bush Fundamentalists.
