I saw something very disturbing to me the other day at Wal-Mart. A young girl about six years old was complaining to her mother that she needed to go to the bathroom. I was hearing this from the next row over. The mother told the child NO that she was going to have to wait until they got home. The little girl complained that she had to go bad and had to go for a while. The monther after a few more words told her that if she did not shut up she would not get to go when they got home. I was in absolute horror hearing this. They left and I lost track of them in the store. I wondered if she made it or if she made her mother mad and was made to hold it even longer after getting home. I also wondered if this was the first time. Having this happen to me as a child I felt for the little girl and it brought back some old memories. I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen this or had it done to them.

Yes. I've seen it. Pathetic, isn't it? And it was done to me when I was a kid, but thankfully, not too often. My mother was horrified by public restrooms, and saw them as something only to be used in cases of medical emergency. Plus, bodily functions were not to be mentioned in public. I remember getting in a great deal of trouble one time for admitting in front of other people that I desperately needed to go. I remember the physical pain of having to hold it. You'd think that people would evolve over time and realize that children, like everyone else, need to go to the restroom, but I suppose that's too much to ask of some so-called "parents".

That's just sick..you have to have license to drive a car and carry a gun, and you get tested to graduate high school and all these things people have to be approved for before they can do a lot of things, but the worst of all is that any idiot can have a child. I have to a variety of stores and have seen a variety of ppl interacting with their children and it always upsets me when a parent no "parent" acts like it would kill them to take a few minutes out of life to appease a child's most innocent request. It is child abuse or if not neglect which is just as bad. Don't you just wanna grab your cell and call someone, but who do we call. And is it ppl like us who don't call that gives those Pol reason to go doing these things. In the city where I live these pp; were just arrested for leaving an autistic 3yo boy taped in a closet for 3 days while they went to a family reunion. When they came home he was dead. They staged this deal wheree she pretended to pass out in a park wher she was with some other foster kids (as was the 3yo) and said he wondered off. These ppl make me sick......I could go on and on but you get the idea.

yes this is abusive. if this is the way the mother behaves in public, i can only imagine what goes on behind closed doors. i endured physical and emotional abuse as a child as well, so my heart really goes out to that poor little girl. it is probably a good thing that you didnt say anything to the mother. if it had been me, and a stranger made a comment to my mother about it, i would have received the beating of a lifetime when i got home.

If this was so disturbing for you,why did you not say or do something?
If what you are saying is true, then yes that's on the verge of abuse,if it's something she enforced.

I myself was made to wear diapers when i was six cause i had a bed wetting problem. My stepfather made me go to the local store with him,and he made me pick out which ones i wanted. He also made me wear them to school,i would take them off in the bathroom as soon as i got there though.

The point to my question is,if someone had said or done something about my situation it could have saved me years of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse.

That's ABUSE! How horrible! No one should be made to hold it in-- it's bad for you.
I wonder what sort of punishment the poor girl gets if she goes in her pants? That's a very sad thing to witness. And it's a tough situation to be in-- do you say something to the parent? They might get aggressive and tell you to mind your own business.
I've never seen anything like that, I haven't had it done to myself-- nor have I ever done that to my own child!!!

Yes, while my friend Felicia and I were on the computer by the window we spotted a woman spanking and hitting her three year old son for playing the front yard with a ball which made no sense.

Ive never seen that before but people have strange ideas sometimes when it comes to bringing up children. Maybe the parent was taught that when they were younger and believe it to be ok. I agree that it is borderline abuse.

I've seen it before yes unfortunatly and have had worse done by my step father. Even though it is sad we must keep our heads in our own business because it might make it worse trust me on this one ok.
