Anyone ever heard of BSL, breed specific legislation, Denver supposedly outlawed "pitbull dogs" in Denver

Mine's American Staffshire Terrier. They kind of look alike.

Pitbull fighting magazines specifically advertise no Staffshire. That's what I'm told by an old bulldog fighter.

Would he fall under the BSL in Denver?

Staffs are pitbulls. They are only called American Staffshire Terriers because AKC made them change the pitbull name. AMSTaffs do fall under this legislation.


When they outlaw these dogs, they cannot make owners get rid of them so do not worry. They can only enforce that all dogs on that list or of that breed be sterilized.

Unfortunately, pitbulls have garnered enough of a vicious reputation that I recently read an article that stated there were actually several cities and towns (not just Denver) that either had legislation pending or already passed that outlawed this breed. It's a difficult law to define - for example, does it include mixed pitbull breeds? And, if so, does the "mix" matter?

I personally have a love/hate relationship with dogs - I have two dogs - I love the friendly ones and absolutely hate the vicious ones.

A debate on whether it is breed related or simple training and conditioning is a subject for another question - as I stated at the start, unfortunately, more times than not, when you read about a vicious dog attack it usually involves a pitbull.
