if a person got fired from job, and does not put in his/her resume, could the prospective employers find out about it?

more and more companies/corporations are investing in background checks of prospective employees. I don't think that it would be very difficult for them to find out where and when you have held a job, and many of them reference that merely to view your work history. There are a lot of questions that can't be asked or answered in regard to a person's work history, most simply ask date of employment, attendence and possibly if they would re-hire someone. Any unsolicited information can possibly construe libel/slander if it is negative and many HR departments avoid that liability by giving as little information as needed.

I speak from my experience in that I walked out of a cooking job once. I will never be able to work for ANY Marriott hotel or subsidiary ever again, but after my experience, I would NEVER want to.

Unfortunately, yes. There is usually a section on the employment application where you give them permission to contact your former employer and do background and credit checks. Not giving permission is usually not good to do.

Also, if you fail to report this and they hire you and then find out, you will be fired for lying on your application.

However, you don't tell them that you were dismissed unless asked either in writing or in speaking.

What you need to do is to find a way to put a good spin on why it didn't work out for you and your previous employer.

Avoid describing the situation emotionally -- try to find an objective way to explain the situation. For example, we had a personality conflict that we were not able to overcome.

Also, think of a way to explain constructively what you learned from that situation and how what you learned will make it so that the situation will not happen again in the future. For example, I learned that in the future when a family member dies, that I need to take more time off from work -- I hadn't before because I felt that I didn't want to let the team down.

If you worked somewhere for a long time and were fired and did not include this job in you resume the employer will want you to explain the gap ... MOST employers don't care why you left the previous job unless it was because of dishonesty..

There are two ways that employers can know about your past.
1. By verifying your educations qualifications by the institions, uniersities you have attended in your education career.
2. By reference checking, it also can be done two way 1. your given reference can be checked and 2. your exemployers as you mentioned in cv.

But it vary firms to firms, some checks serious and some dont.

yes. There are some associations which work as a third part companies. They work for staffing and their mere function is to find details about people and tell the prospective companies. At times u can escape it.

Yes. By at least two different ways. By looking at your Social Security number .. that would list how much money you made per year .. and where. The second way would be by talking to Santa. Since Santa watches all the boys and girls all year long. He knows everything and CAN be bribed. Good Luck ! :)
