well mainly because they were lied to,the better question is why the french capitulated so easily, because that actually an interesting story (did you know that at the time the french were the largest and most advanced military and navy at the time) anyway back to the issue at the beginning hitler and stalin were allies thi is called the german russian non aggression pact ,and the agreement was that hitler would invade poland...and that it no further, meanwhile of course stalin would hold the backside of poland.polands army was obsolete, mostly foot soldiers,no mechanized armour ie;tanks, they had 450 planes to the german 1400 basically they were outmanned out gunned and lied to by both hitler and stalin and they were ignored by the other countries that eventually would create the allies.they were incredibly brave and fierce fighters and they gave it there all,but alas they were no match to the "modern" german wermacht

for your information, the polish fought for Germany against the Russians, the Germans were a hell of a lot better to them than Stalin, the Jews told THE STORY that the poles were so stupid they didn't know the difference between being over run and liberated , REMEMBER, Poland changed side when America joined the war, STRANGE, the poles were the only ones who could break the German code, or else Germany could have won the war, even tho 75%of the world was fighting them,

The same reason an antelope doesn't "properly defend" itself from a lion.
When a realist sees a situation is hopeless and there is absolutely no options other than total annihilation - he won't quote Shakespeare and he won't be wearing his rose colored optimism glasses.
