My boyfriend and I have been going out for a while.. we both feel that we care a lot about each other.. and he's been really hurt in the past.. he's a very caring and sensitive person as well. Right now he's not in town.. he'll be away for a few months (military) and I received an email from him today... it closed like this:

Love you.
Love,
Nick

He usually just writes:
Love,
Nick

Am i looking too much into this? How should I respond? "I love you too"? I don't want him to feel rejected and he may not say it again b/c of that... or did he just write it accidently.. but he took the time to add a period at the end of "Love you."... ??? help!!!

Don't worry about it. He loves you. He's telling you that. Feel good about it. You can respond by saying how much you love him too. That can never be over stated. He probably needs and thrives on hearing it from you. If he's that sensitive make him feel reassured. Tell him you are counting the days until you see him again. Relax. You both have it made. You have each other.

sign it with a simple Love You Too :-)
guys only say the i love you when they mean it. They don't say it too every girl. When you send him an email just be cool. Say what you have to say and close with Love you.
If you are seeing him in person, look him in the eye, smile and say I love you.
When you love someone you are not concerned about how they feel about you. You love them because you do and nothing can change that.

I was a navy wife for 20 years and I'm sure he misses yo alot! But if he's going to say he loves you keep you standards high and make him say it to your face, or at the very least on the phone. Don't read too much into it and sign your reply, for now, with... Love, Sara

I think being away makes you miss things more. Love you in writing ...and saying "I love you" are different. Follow his lead...with ending it with Love you. ( as long as you do love him).
Jst by letting him know you miss him and think of him all the time means a lot to those away.
Wait for the " i love u" until you are in person.

If you really love him I think you should say it back. They need all the support they can get. They are going through a lot right now. If something should happen to him and God forbid it will, then you will not feel the guilt, that you would feel for not saying what he needs to hear. God bless the both of you my dear. God please bring him home safely. Just a little prayer for his safety.

well, he's obviously put some thought into saying it in the first place. you should feel flattered that he said it. i remember the first time my boyfriend said 'i love you.' to be honest, i don't understand why so many people hesitate when a bf/gf says the "L" word. I love my bf more than anything. Please, though, don't say 'I love you' just because he said it. Say it and mean it.

it's not really a big thing, i mean... u should answer something like "i love u too" anyway, and tell him u love him, how much u miss him etc. =)

why shouldn't you say i love you too? you love him right? so it is ur obligation to say i love you, though it is verbal but it's important in a relationship

Say whatever you feel for him.. u might regret later...

IF you don't feel the emotion, don't tell some that you do. IF you do love him, what are you waiting for?
