With Bush now giving himself power to imprison anyone, anytime, without reason (habeus corpus), and his Patriot Act which is an all out war on civil liberty disguised as an anti terror law (as well as blatent doublespeak a la 1984). Is he trying to dismantle the constituion and our rights or what reintroduce the Monarchy?

well, yes and no....

is he destroying the civil rights of the country? yes. ignoring the constitiution? yes. any idea of how the world really works? no.
single handedly doing it?? HELL NO.

he's never been anywhere near that bright. the man is a total idiot. he couldnt fix a straw if it was bent. he's just a puppet that dances when his strings are tugged, and he doesnt understand more than a third of what he's saying. thats the really scary part, even if he's somehow brought up on charges that make him pay for all the laws he's broken to achieve his goals, its not really him thats in charge, so whoever it is really pulling the strings will still be out there unscathed.

Remember although you have a figurehead (the President) the congress is far more lethal. Yes the president can veto bills, but congress makes and passes laws every day and provides the President with either good or bad information, don't you think they would prevent the president from making irrational decisions such as war if they wanted. But they didn't, people forget the power of congress and their infulence, the President is their puppet.

What is truly sad about all this.. is that the people of this country are just sitting back, watching, listening to all this, and not one is doing anything about it. So if this country fails, do we all blame President Bush.. or take a good look at ourselves in the mirror and realize we could have done something to prevent this. No, I'm not talking about voting next election, or anything of the sort.. people, do you not know how to tell your government officials when to stop.. when to begin changing things.. do you just want to be the silent Americans..
You all better wake up here, and make your voice known. Good or bad.. this is your country as well as it is mine.

The mission of dismantling the US Constitution began more than 2 decades ago and is now almost complete. Now is the time to vote Bush's minions out of office and to guarantee that your vote will be counted by requesting that Emergency Paper Ballots be provided to the polling stations in your town. The governors of each state have been approached regarding the provision of these ballots because of the proven faulty voting machines. It's up to you to follow up with a request. Everyone is doing it.

I don't think you can say "single-handedly"... He had plenty of help. He has Cheney and Rumsfeld and Condi to thank for their continued assistance - and let's not forget who passed the Patriot Act. Seriously what can you expect from someone who says that "the constitution is just a G** D***** piece of paper".

What surprizes me is that the silent majority of America has such a high tolerance for letting anyone discard so much that their mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers fought and even died to protect.

Not single-handedly, no. He's got Chaney and Rove and Rumsfeld and Rice all helping him. (They had to get rid of Colin Powell because he would not play along.)

But he can't go too far. All he is dong is grabbing power from the Congress and the Supreme Court, but the GOP Congress supports him (since he doesn't have to worry about getting approval from pesky Democrats) and the Supreme Court cannot do anything until a case is brought before them. (Why there has been no case by anyone who was illegally wiretapped yet, I don't know.)

And they might not rule against it: Bush stacked the court, too.

George "Dummernya" Bush isn't smart enough to pull this off...before he ran for the presidency, they had a team in Texas trying to coach him for the campaign for over a year...he still can't read a speech thats right in front of him. If he had an intelligence test against a rock, he'd lose. This is Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, daddy Bush, the oil industry, large corporations and of course, Halliburton to name a few. They have sold our jobs overseas, they have gutted the American workforce, started their little private war, (not that any of their families are over there), and have made enormous profits from dead bodies...a number of them Americans.

There is a reason we are called conservatives. The reason is we are conservative in regards to making changes to the constitution and also due to the fact we have a more literal take on what it means. Copy all the crap you want from the MoveOn book of moronic things to say about Bush but you will learn that you are so clueless to the truth. You are being blinded by your party...
The Military Commissions Act removed Habeas Corpus which the purpose is to try military combatants under a military tribunal and not in a US court of law.
Here is a link to the law as it passed the Senate:

It's not uncommon for the govt to take away civil liberties during times of war. This has been happening in our country for as long as there have been wars. This president is not doing something any former war president has not done before.

The problem, however, is that we have been in wars constantly for I don't even know how long now. If we don't defend them, the loss of our civil liberties may be permanent. Stay tuned.
