Satan and Demons being the fallen angels who have left their 1st estate and are cast out of heaven. Could this be why they are changed to not look like angels?

The so called Demons feed off your misery, suffering.and pain The energy your body sends out is food for many entities. Religion,Politics tell you only what is profitable to them and most have no idea what God is or what the scriptures really mean. Like most of the world they grab something that works and run with it. It pays a person to learn to read and to understand what they are reading. It takes time and serious effort but you grow out of bondage by doing so. Even the smartest among us can be fooled but not over and over again. As for the looks of different entities read the first part of the Bible and see Lucifer was one of the most beautiful lights in the heavens and was given charge of this planet to test his ideas .
