I'm basically a good rip off of Michael Buble. Everytime I do karaoke the crowds go nuts. So, my question is, how do I turn that into paying gigs like weddings and barmitzvas etc.? Or anything that pays for that matter. I don't need to be famous, just paid.

Start advertising on your local Craigslist and check your local phone book for DJs. You might be able to hook up with a DJ who will give you a set or let you be an MC (then you don't have to worry about the PA system). Also, since you don't have a lot of credentials yet (since a lot of people will ask for references) it might not hurt to make a video that you can use for promotional stuff.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to call the other wedding singers in town and find out what they're charging - and you may want to consider doing some work for free to get your name out there. We're getting some help from people for our wedding at low/no cost cause they're trying to get experience.

Do you want to continue to do karaoke, or do you want a backup band? Karaoke is cheaper to get started, but not as popular or pleasing to listen to. Having a band is more expensive, and you have to work around the schedules of several people.

Honestly, it is difficult to become a wedding singer without being willing to sing in restaurants, bars, etc. Most wedding gigs come as the result of being heard at public places.
