It's a womans body. It's her choice. Why should we let the government into our bodies? What's next if we allow the government to tell us how to live?

ps. the glob of cells in my body is NOT a Human. It is a potential human. In which my body is hosting. Therefore I have to right to remove it from my body. It has no rights whatsoever. Thus said by the supreme court!

Tough question, either way can be a good argument. I don't think they should, however, once it is being used as a form of birth control, then something should be done. I would rather see a generation on the pill then to see a generation of unwanted, screwed up kids. Abortion should never be questioned in terms of rape, or a fetus that is deformed. I agree with the question asker for the most part, but it has not been an easy issue to clearly state Black or White. It's an emotional issue, just as much.

The Supreme Court ALSO said that slaves had no rights whatsoever and were not "persons" under the law. Their owners had the right to kill them. Was the court right? If the court had simply looked at the plain physical evidence, they would have realized that blacks are in fact living human beings with rights. However, they chose to ignore that evidence because other people wanted the right to victimize and oppress blacks, just like we are doing to the child in the womb now.

By the time you know you are pregnant, there is no "glob of cells." At just three weeks after conception, the child's heart is already beating. At six weeks, the child has brain waves and little fingers. By eight weeks, she has all her organs and can suck her thumb. At nine weeks, she can grasp an object placed in her palm. The average age of an aborted baby in America is 10 weeks.

I think that even if it is a potential human it is a life. I feel that if you didn't want a baby inside of you in the first place then you should have been more careful with the protection. There are so many people out there that can't conceive, but then there are other who just conceive constantly and then get an abortion. Think of it this way, what if your mom had had an abortion instead of giving birth to your brother or sister, how would you feel? you feel as though something has been taken from you, you alwasy wonder what they would have been like. I mean you could at least just give it up for adoption, that way you don't have to destroy the miracle that your body created.

Glob of cells? That's not what I saw on my sonogram at 7 weeks. I saw a beating heart, a head and arms and legs. She was about the size of a peanut, but nonetheless a human. I dont care what the supreme court says, slavery used to be legal too. As far as choice goes, I had the choice to have sex, and the choice to use protection. Abortions due to rape, account for less than 1% of all abortions, so that's not a real arguement either.

I believe that there is a point during gestation where a body becomes human, but I do not agree in abortion as a contraception. Abortion should be used when there is an early term diagnosis of danger to child and/or mother, and the mother has decided that abortion is the safest alternative. For later-term diagnosis, allowance for abortion should be more restrictive. This should be judged on an individual basis but given the available judges, one is likely to get biased crap.

If you have had conception due to rape, you are entitled to deny birth during early gestation. Otherwise , if you wait, you gestate. Have the baby and give up for adoption, or suck it up. Anybody over the age of nine knows that if you have sex, you risk having spawn.

All arguements of whether a "glob of cells" has rights aside. . . .the government does NOT have the right to single out a particular sex and dictate to them what they can/cannot do with their own bodies.

If abortions are (once again) made illegal, only the rich will be able to afford medically safe abortions - and they WILL get them just the same as they did before. The average woman will be destined to a back alley, potentially fatal, abortion. That certainly sounds fair (not).

I have much opinion on this matter being a fetus after a miscarriage and suffering a birth defect. My parents were young and dumb; not to mention very naive. In the instance of abortion however, I feel the right of choice should be afforded to a woman, not the government, What other moral issues will the government step in and argue "for the people"?

you are right about it being a potential human. and the only thing stopping this child from living is the person carrying out the abortion. if it was left alone and not interfered with this child who has no voice of their own yet would one day be a person with as many rights as you.

Abortion = murder

Hundreds of years ago infanticide was acceptable and legal in some places. If you didn't want your already born child you could kill them. Just because the government allows something doesn't make it morally right.

I don't think they should.

I do NOT think abortions are right, and I would never have one, BUT making them illegal would cause more problems, and would most likely be based on religious ideas, or peoples opinions - laws should not be based on religion or opinion.

If abortion was made illegal, it would NOT stop abortions from happening. People would find a way, as they have in the past. They would do it themselves, or by a person who isn't a doctor, and both ways could lead to infection/sterility/and probably even death. Bad.

They might be able to find a doctor who would jeapordize his or her career and do it anyways, but they would probably get ripped off financially for it, just because they're desperate.

And even though I would personally never have an abortion, I wouldn't stop being friends with someone that did, or try to talk them out of it, or hate them or anything like that - their decision not mine.

You are right! They shouldnt be able to tell us what to do with our bodies. I think early abortion is ok. Now when women have an abortion later on in the pregnancy thats when it becomes horrible. I think you should make that choice early or not at all. I think early abortion is no more murder than that wasted cells when a guy masterbates or the wasted cells when a woman has her period. They are cells. Any one who says different needs to do their research.
