Explain you have a doctor's appointment. This is the truth; you are not lying. There's no reason they need to know *why* you have scheduled this visit to the doctor, nor do they have to be told that, while you are out on this visit, you may also be going on a further job interview before or after.

I recently retired from a job wherein the only excuse that was permitted was you were dead. Condsider yourself lucky. All decisoins or problemsand issues can be resolved by using a defined system. When I have a problem I take it to my Lord in prayer. God is greater than any problem.

You have a PERSONAL matter that requires your attention. If the boss can't go with that he or she has no business being in charge. The personal matter may be, say for instance you need to take an aids test, or something personal like that. This is no ones business but your own, and any one who is a leader in any business should understand this or they don't belong in charge.

You got the flu...you twisted your ankle the night before...lol...im not sure never did that before. Never say you have a illness in the family or anything like that. Its like a jinx..lol. Also keep it short and simple dont elaborate on your reasons. You might forget something you said and be asked about it the next day. Hope this helps...good luck with the interview.

I hate lying too. Can you be honest with them? Maybe they will offer you a promotion if you do not get the other job. If not, there's always the dentist appointment, family emergency, migraine excuses. Good luck with the excuse and the new job!

Diarrhea...the best excuse...

Food poisoning they might ask what you ate.
tell them you have a cold (they might talk more about what kind do you have a fever etc, and yes you do have a fever)
personal emergency-that covers everything
"women's problems
Urinary Tract Infection. Can clear up in a day or two and you can get it overnight.

Tell them you have personnal business that came up and it has to be taken care of. If you never miss work they should understand. If not then that shows their respect and value they have for you anyway. I'm in the same situation and going to another job.

I had an employee tell me that his wife started the dryer with the cat in it. It killed the cat. Later I found out he had lied. But I didnt care because it was a great excuse.

After you get the new job tell them you want to give your old job 2 weeks. It looks better on paper that way. Never quit a job, don't burn your bridges. just tell your old boss you appreciate the job but you got a better offer and turn in your 2 weeks notice. Trust me...
