It already has, for me (and I hate to admit that). Sure, I'll take notes and make the occasional grocery list by hand, but I find that it's hard for me to sit down and write actual letters anymore, when I could just as easily send an e-mail, even to my elderly relatives. Almost everybody I could possibly want to contact is online. Why wait a week or more for a response, when I can have it right away? And some e-mails are rather amazingly well-composed; you just have to be corresponding with an intelligent and articulate person.
