they are synaptic wierd creatures with special abilities, they look nowwhere near anything on this earth but crustaceans, and they look like they are just made for killing things. The intesity that these spiders possess is scary, they are fast moving ugly things that kill really good. they are usually nocturnal, killers of the night. and hey they are just made for sucking blood. And their faces look like something off of the predator.

The poisonous ones are the scariest. Black widows are the worst. But, like you said, some are beautiful. My favorite is the jumping spider. Those are cool. Have you ever thought about this? If you think about it logically, and use a little imagination, People eat spiders every day, in the form of crabs! They look like spiders, only they live in the sea. Sorry Red Lobster!

If I actually knew the answer, then maybe I wouldn't completely and totally act like an idiot when I see one. But have you ever noticed - there's no good way to kill the little suckers. If you shoot them with spider spray, then they roll and curl and seem like they are in tremendous pain and if you step on one, it makes a horrible crunchy sound beneath your foot. So when I am confronted, I run when I can, or capture the tiny monster and take it outside.

The spider itself doesn't scare me, but their webs do. Because if you can see the spider, you can avoid it without any problem. But if you run into the web (as I have done so many times) you will then have to look out for the spider. The last time this happened to me, the spider was sitting peacefully on my arm. <_<

They are awesome! Guess they are just too alien for some folks. Or the "sucking the body dry" thing grosses them out. Perhaps the old world tarantulas and the death dance freaked them out and it's just filtered down through human culture. I used to be terrified of them when I was a kid.

16 legs?! Eh?

The only thing scary about spiders is that some of them are poisonous. I like spiders.

First Off EEEEWWWW!!!...LOL I really have a bad phobia when it comes to spiders. I guess its they are hairy and have all those legs and the fact that they can just drop out of anything onto your head and you wouldnt even know it....eeww. It is said that 8 out of 10 people have swallowed a spider while they are sleeping...thats gross.

I dunno, that just depends. Different people may have different reason for which spiders are considered scary. For me, the reason is any insect-like animals will make me creepy, especially the big ones.
And I know some people like spiders so much that they keep them as pets, even some of the insect-like animals are really expensive in a pet shop.

It's not that I find them scary, just that I don't particulary want them crawling on me. Or any insect for that matter. They're just small and have itchy little legs.
But I wouldn't say that I am "frightened" of them.
Things like people, war, and bacteria are much more scary
