I think I might have a yeast infection. I'm to scared to go to the doctors. Is it a bad thing to have this? Is it a STD? Is this normal?

A yeast infection is not an STD. It is a normal thing for women to have in some circumstances. They are often caused by an excess of sugar in the diet, diabetes, underwear made of synthetic materials (cotton is best!), and hormonal changes. Nothing to be scared of. Treatment is fast and easy, but get it taken care of quickly. If this is your first time suspecting a yeast infection, go to the doctor. There are several other afflictions that have very similar symptoms to yeast infections, some of which can be dangerous. Once you know that you definitely have a yeast infection, you can treat it yourself. Letting it go can cause the irritation to get MUCH worse!

P.S. You do NOT need to get a prescription to treat a yeast infection, unless you want to treat it orally with a pill. There are plenty of inexpensive over-the-counter treatments available. Some people will say that eating yogurt prevents yeast infections--that's simply not true. It's an old wives tale that the acids and cultures in yogurt can kill yeast growth. These acids and cultures are digested when you eat them, and therefore have no influence on yeast growth in the vagina. And don't even THINK of putting yogurt "down there." I've actually heard of that being done, and I'm told that not only does it not work, it will make the yeast grow faster because of the sugars.

A young girl, who has never had sex, can get a yeast infection. Is there discharge? Yellowish-white? Is your vaginal area very itchy? Have you been on an antibiotic lately? Using bubble bath? If any of this rings a bell, go to the drug store and get Mono Stat. They have 3 different kinds...I like the one for 3 days. Ask the pharmacist if you're not sure. This will take care of it if it is yeast. AND yeast infections are NOT STD's. If it doesn't help, you may have an infection or some sort of irritation there. Then, it is time to see your Doctor. Almost every woman I know has had their share of yeast infections! I think you have just joined that club!!!

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:
https://bitly.im/aMBxD

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment
