I've heard that the next star trek will be another prequel about Kirk before taking command of Enterprise, With Matt Damon playing Kirk, It will either be an incredible sucess or the final nail in the coffin for Star Trek, I hope it will be a sucess If they can find someone to play Spock and McCoy with some skill, then all that's left to is teach Damon how to act, throw in some cool special effects from Industrial Light and Magic, find a good enemy and this may either seal Star Trek's fate forever, or breathe new life into the franchise.
All I can do is hope for the best

This isn't really a question.

Anyway, Damon's a decent actor. Better than Shatner, probably. And how bad could it be? As long as they stay along the original storylines created by Roddenberry forty years ago (unlike Star Trek: Enterprise), it'll sell tickets.

Im a fan of star trek after all most of the technologies that we are benefiting today were made by creators inspired by the film and series. In any case, yes I am hoping for a decent movie. I guess one of the main issues I've found lacking in a Star Trek Motion picture is well, the ship fight scenes. The scenes of a ship against a ship or a ship against three ships would is old. It would be great if they had a fleetwide battle in cinema... That would be so great to watch as well as interesting... I hope there will be lots of ships involved in a space battle this time and as for Matt Damon, he is a good actor and I believe if he really is going to be the young captain Kirk that he will live up or even do better in portraying capt Kirk....

i might want to opt to work out a chain in accordance with IDW Comics "movie star Trek: Ongoing". The books are reinterpretations of classic Trek episodes with the solid of the 2009 and 2013 Trek video clips.

I think that the idea is a load of horse crap. It will bomb as bad as the idea for the last show, "Enterprise" did. I think another Next Generation Movie would rock... especually if it combined a bit from DS9 and/or Voyager. Going back to the past and replacing classic characters never works. Look at the recent remake of the Heman cartoon which tanked hardcore.

It would probably be best to go with unknowns, but its bound to be a decent movie. But then I thought the first star trek movie was adequate.

I don't believe Paramounts letting trek die, just giving it a rest. If they want to start over with a TOS prequal, thats fine with me.

If the could get Kevin Smith and the View Askiew group involved this could be the new hot product. Ben Affleck could get involved, Jason Mews, and the reat of the cast will make it work.
