I'd really like to know. Aside from all the questions wanting an essay, there's ones like "what's the differance between this n that" and "what is the defenition of"... Seriously. Is it that much harder to look in the index and glossary of a book then before we had Yahoo Answers??

And to the inevetible replies of "well i don't wanna pay fifty bucks for a one time thing for an essay" and the like, write your own dang essay. And if you can't, go back to fourth grade and learn about how to put sentences togeather.

I agree. Essays take time and research and personal opinions. Asking for help on the internet and getting a decent answer is harder than actually looking up the topic and writing your own damn essay. Amen.

Oh, and I was educated in America for the person who is hating on us. Honors classes all the way.

I just realized there was a section for homework help on here today. Started to look some of them over and thinking the same thing. The answer or how to reach the answer is in the book. Where are these kids' parents or guardians?

Looking at some of the things on here too has me shaking my head like crazy. Can't spell, can't punctuate, grammar stinks. Kids these days talk and type in IMeeze or texteeze if you can even call it that.

I'm 32 born and raised in California in a public education setting. I know people I went to school with that still have issues with these things, but looking at the things now makes me want to take the graduation test (if it's still a requirement in California) to see what a teen has to know before they graduate. So many fail the test, yet others are surprised when they pass.

So I'm curious, what does a child do when they get an answer on here? Write it in their homework without checking it as their own? I feel bad for the future of this country.

PS... HELLO, there is a spell checker on this site... USE IT. Sorry had to vent since we were on the topic.

Maybe todays children (rather than the offspring of goats), believe in the maxim that there is no such thing as a stupid question. There are people on Answers who are silly enough to write essays for others.

Also some texts do not contain glossaries and some dictionary definitions do not give adequate contextual explication.

Too much politics in education to turn out a properly educated person. School Trustees etc., are only interested for the most part, in being re-elected to office. If a child happens to glean a bit of an education along the way ... well they are lucky. There are a lot of well educated Europeans and Asians, who will be running the corporations of North America and UK because our children are a bunch of over-pampered brats. That translates into running our children when they are adults, as well !!!

My 8 Th grade child does , the teacher said that it is 21 years old. I think it is silly when she says she needs to go on computer for things like definitions, pictures and such to do homework, she has never got lower than B 's on report card makes honor roll, but has not been taught punctuation,or proper writing skills

The internet is easier for most people I guess. That's not really a good reason, but it's probably what most people who ask those sort of questions say. It does annoy me though when a person asks a simple question that they could answer themselves with just a little research.

Yeah most kids now and days are stupid. It's because a kid can go to school and if the teachers yells at him for being bad, he can go cry to his mom and dad who then come in and yell at the teacher and then the Principal yells at the teacher for doing there job. So why should teachers try to help kids if they don't want it and if there parents don't care about it.
