Both my brothers-in-law were cops who achieved the rank of detective (one actually went on to become Chief in his hometown). The one from the big city never did admit to anything but I've heard the 'suburban' cop say there are things they might have done differently on a case.

But sometimes a cop (or a doctor or a fireman or anyone who is a 'first responder') just reacts by instinct and doesn't have time to say, well gee -- I could do this or I could do that. In the case of a cop, they must always be mindful of the fact that one wrong move with someone and they could be looking down the barrel of a gun or the glint of a knife.

They really do protect and serve, but first they have to protect themselves.

They don't make mistakes, do they? LOL. No, I have NEVER heard a cop admit they made a mistake.

No.

Either because they don't want to yield control or they are, in fact, power freaks.

Admitting they can make a mistake is too dangerous - for many of them!

Yup. This cop pulled me over and said I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. Well, in my grandpa's super old Cougar, it wasn't made with seatbelts and if the car was originally made without seatbelts, it's cool.

No. I don't believe it's in their code to do so. When a police officer pulls you over it is most likely for an infraction of the law and he is doing his job. Why should they apologize for that?

Ya... my uncle admits he should have handcuffed the hooker before her bf. She hit him with her stiletto and riped a artery in his chest. He turned his back on her, bad move, & he admited it. Poor Uncle Roger.
