Gigi, sexual orientation development in humans is very complex. It is not as we might assume as it should be.

There are many theories on why we have the sexual orientation each of us possesses. The biological theories are only one group of such theories. There is also social learning theory as well as interaction theory (biology + social forces). Gay people tend to choose the biological theories to believe in because they are the theories easiest for them to understand.

Very few people have an understanding of sexual orientation development in a chid or adolescent.

When a gay (or bi) person tells you they cannot help who they are, that they have no choice, they are not lying to you. They are telling you a great truth about themselves that few other people you meet would ever do.

Why might homosexuality happen in the human species? It might be a way for nature to control over population. It might be a way for humans to relieve stress when not enough opposite sex partners are around. It might be an artifact behavior left over from our early ancestors that was sort of a way same sex individuals bonded (like males on a hunting expedition). It seems to have always been around since the dawn of time -- at least a few individuals have been gay and probably many more were bisexual.

(Actually, as a take off on your last statement, homosexuality and bisexuality might be VERY natural in the human species.)

Many of the people you interact with on a daily or weekly basis at church/synagogue, work, or school are actually not straight. They may not alway act on their orientations, but they are what they are, deep down inside. You can't change them.

In fact, many of the people in your family tree, perhaps those who never married, might very well have been gay or bi too. Family genealogists tend to turn gay and bi people into straight people once they have died.

1. People are animals, sorry, its true
2. Breeding has nothing to do with anything. Not all straight people breed.
3. Receive and Dominate Genes, the six-finger gene is dominate, but most people have 5...wonder why? Cause most people have the receive gene, for all you know the gay gene can be dominate. and you might be carrying it
4. Brain wave, yes they are attracted to members of the same sex the same way you are attracted to members of the opposite sex.

Maybe I'm wasting time feeding another troll here, but it's the kind of question that deserves an answer of some kind.

And the general answer is a belief that if it's something beyond their control, people stop hassling them to 'choose heterosexuality' (tho some will, in the spirit of minimal-tolerance, advise them to choose lifelong abstinence.)

My own opinion is that it doesn't really matter outside of medical curiosity. The haters will hate even if it's proven beyond a doubt that it's a birth condition.

I've noticed that the true gays and lesbians seem to have a higher IQ than the homophobic bigots on here. I'm a lesbian but at least I can spell "straight" correctly.

If you are a female you should know that we are not just breeders. We can provide just as much to this society whether we have children or not. The same goes with males.

I am so sick of these uneducated questions from these uneducated users. Just because you can't breed you're not considered human? What about sterile men and women? They're not human, either? Honey, gay people are a hundred times more human that yourself.

Your insistance that sex is ONLY about breeding is WHY!

How many INFERTILE HETEROS do you know of?
Homosexuals are not INCAPABLE of procreation, obviously not with each other, but individually our bodies are NO different.

Do infertile HETEROS not have sex?
Are they denied the right to marry and live happy lives without ignorant bigots sticking their noses into what they do or don't do in their bedroom?

Just because we can't have children TOGETHER doesn't mean the EXACT same options infertile Heteros enjoy can't be utilized for us as well!

It doesn't mean we don't make perfectly loving, safe and well adjusted families!

...and as for "natural?"

Is enjoyment of sex purely for sex's sake 'unnatural?"

If sex was ONLY meant for procreation, NOBODY would be doing it!
LEAST OF ALL INFERTILE HETEROS!

i believe the answer to your second question is yes. Homosexuals are another breed of animal...genetically different than the heterosexual human, and intellectually superior to whatever breed you are.

I'm gay and I don't feel the need to convince you of anything. To tell the truth, I really don't care what you think of me. And next time, you might want to use spell check before submitting a question.

We feel that we have to explain that we were born this way to avoid discrimination. It's just like someone who was born with blue eyes or brown hair. You wouldn't discriminate against them because they were born that way. Why would you judge us on something that we have no control over?
