They are the largest rodents and should not be kept as pets they are wild animals and need special permits to be kept rather get a nice hamster

They are illegal in the US as pets without a license although there was one running loose last year in my town which came from someone who had it illegally. It made the papers and was the talk of the town for a couple of days until the owners were arrested.
Don't even try to get one, they are very large, messy animals and you will have your house torn up with poop everywhere

I don't think there's a lot of personal experience out here.
And personally, I would think any animal that isn't domesticated isn't a very good choice for a family pet. But, hey, whatever floats your boat.

Uhh are you serious? NO! They are 1.wild animals 2. pretty big 3.rodent

They, just like all wild animals, should never be in homes and always require a permit to have in many cities.

No, they are wild animals, not a pet. I dont imagine they'd be a good pet anyway, most wild animals aren't.

Why would you even want one?

Capybaras are large, wild, amphibious rodents.

Just buy a rat. They make great pets.

I always wanted one too. I've never heard of anyone owning one though.
