20/200 is just the amount of curvature in his lens. yes, he will have to wear glasses or contacts, but he is not blind, and unless he has some other diagnosis, its just life, sometimes people need glasses. i have 20/600 and i do just fine..hope this eases your fears

Perfect vision, 20/20, means things that are 20 feet away look like they are 20 feet away. 20/200 means that things that are 20 feet away look like 200 feet to him. Why are they devastated about bad eyesight?

Specialist always says that 20/20 is good and so on, but don't worry all they have to do is get his glasses so he can wear it and pray that is also a good method. good luck.
