You can make it so easy with
Newspaper, jesso (glue) and water... make a syrup and put the newspapers in it and allow it to dry unto the shape you desire. Then paint it and glue any other items to it.... I use lots of glitter from the dollar store.

Sometimes I use color copies of people or items they love. I used SPiderman face on one, since I could not draw one.

I use lots of balloons and then pop them inside. I do however run a fishing line or string inside them, tape to balloon so that I can hang them up. I make lots of Paper Mache Christmas ornaments like pinatas. Much more fun than stockings.

Elmer's (white school glue) thinned out with water until it is the consistency of a melted milk shake. pour it in a old pie tin. tear long strips of news paper or other porous paper. built a wire armature or use a balloon, something to use as a "skeleton or frame for the shape you are trying to create. layer in a crisscross fashion saturated glue paper strips over your base shape. let it dry and paint with acrylics!

Try putting shredded paper and water in a blender and turning it on. Add more shredded paper in there to make it thicker.

My mom used to do this and she would make cool cards for Christmas.

I am not sure of the exact recipe so you need to experiment some.
