The Day of the Dead in Mexico is about spending time with your departed loved ones by visiting the cemeteries and dressing up as a deceased person to show honor and reverence.

With Halloween, we also dress up, sometimes as a deceased person (ghost, etc.).

Memorial Day is also about remembering the deceased, regardless of who they are (Service Men & Women who you do not know, but still respect for the sacrifies they've made for our country and our way of life) and by visiting cemeteries.

All three events are about rememberance and respect.

Have a lovely rest of the evening.

Differences: Halloween is a much older celebration, originally being the pre-Christian Celtic New Year. The priests who came to Ireland took that holiday and 'Christianized' it, turning it into "All Hallows (all saints) Day" the evening before was called All Hallows Eve a.k.a. Halloween. The Day of the Dead is the Mexican celebration of All Soul's Day, normally celebrated the night of November 1st into November 2nd, which is All Soul's Day on the Catholic calendar. All Souls Day is a day of general remembrance of the dead, not just the canonized saints. Similarities: Both honor the dead. Both are marked with masses in the Catholic church. Both are as much cultural as secular and religious holidays.

Mexicans day of the dead(dia DE los Muertos) is kind of like memorial day, but in Mexico they celebrate it with a lot more pride and love. Dressing up and going to the graveyard to talk and put flowers on the graves is what they do, no cars everyone walks to the graveyard, like a parade.
we do the rose thing and the love thing but not with as much pride as Mexicans.
I dk much about Halloween sorry.
Take care....BYe
