How long were you abusing these drugs for and how recent was the last time you did it? Every police force on the North American continent screens you of narcotics through urine testing, and depending on what state or province you're in, they'll even do a polygraph (lie detector) test.

How far in the past ? Also, they will ask questions with friends
and family members about you. Of course I would give um a
heads up on it, cause if you have no record , don't worry about it
The PD recognize this about people, and they will work with you
as long as you are honest and always do the RIGHT thing. You
will take a written test, physical agility test, and an oral test. The
oral test is when you answer Q's from one high ranking officer,
and a City Official. It will be taped and you will be scored on ur
answers. The higher the score..the better. Just ask your friends
and family to not make you look like you'd be a good candidate.
And DON'T tell every single bad thing you've done, that won't
fly. I would admit to smoking a little weed( when I was younger)
or drinking at a party ( no driving), The small stuff is ok. They will
ask if you've ever taken opiates, mushrooms, hash, acid, etc.
That answer better be NO WAY!! So, really just be a good cop,
should you go that route. Stick to your morals. The cops who lie
for each other....eventually get dismissed. So, keep your ....
Reputation clean.

Most law enforcement agencies I know of will disqualfiy you if they find out your were abusing cocaine. Serious stuff and hard to get off of. This crap of people saying it makes great officer. Majority of officers I know of despise people with drug habits. It's exactly what we are against. I don't know maybe I'm not the norm here but I'm damn proud to be on a department where we do not have dopers working.

you thnk those kids that first joined were picture perfect? Lots of them got their lives turned around and joined the academy. Get yourself in gear and "JOIN". Enjoy your new life as an officer.

I think it only counts against you if you have a felony record because of it. Of course, you would have to be clean currently; assuming that you are.

As long as you have no criminal record ...you can get in. If you have ever been arrested ...forget it !
