Don't be scared - it will be fine. My son shoved the corner of a hardback book in my eye when he was a toddler damaging the cornea and that was far more painful! The pain starts off like bad period cramps, not too bad but uncomfortable and they build up. The important thing to remember is that the pain relief is there if needed - just remember to ask for it as soon as you feel you might need it. No-one can tell you what the pain will be like for you, everyone is different but just think if it were that bad no-one would ever have a second child, which obviously isn't so. I can remember being in your position and my imagination going wild thinking about how bad it might be. Your imagination will always conjure up the worst case scenario, chances are it won't be as bad as you are imagining it to be. Good luck.
