Don't touch or cut your public hair, it is not necessary. In no part of the examination will that have an effect. If anything, the doctor may get the wrong impression of you. Only one thing I want you to be diligent about, make sure if it is a male doctor, that his nurse is in the examining room with the doctor and you during the examination. Do NOT let a male doctor, ever examine you without his nurse present. Don't think because he has a degree that he is a good guy. Other than that, don't be nervous, it will not hurt, just relax. You've only just begun. Welcome to the world of womanhood. Now you know for sure, men have it EASY!!.

Well it is up to you. Women keep there's all different ways based on their preference. It's what you are most comfortable doing. It isn't like the gynecologist is going to make fun of you sbout it. Believe me they prob have seen some stuff....maybe brades....lol....for me i wax so it isnt a worry of mine. If you are apprehensive do a little trimming. If you shave you are going to itch like heck in a few days. There is some nair too for that area that works well, but make sure you get the bikini kind. Relax, you're reading more into the exam then you have to. All you have to worry about is making sure you are showered before the exam. Good Luck with your first exam.

From a guy (sorry)...

I used to do sales calls for docs. I once asked how male docs could do such exams w/o getting, uh, distracted.

They told me that, after the first 100,000 exams, it's like looking at any other body part. They don't worry about any sort of grooming, etc. since they're looking at more imporant problems (although I suspect they'd notice if you'd braided that hair).

I know, YOU are not used to the whole thing, but they look at 2 dozen or more each day....

They also go thru lots of hand soap and paper towels...

It doesn't matter what you do with the pubic hair. I'd just do whatever you do for swimsuit season. If you've never shaved, don't start now, you could have razor burn or ingrown hairs. I personally just make sure I'm extra clean before I go, maybe a trim if I feel its necessary.

You know what? Those doctors have seen it all. People who shave everything, or nothing. People who don't even clean up before coming in to the office. Just make sure you shower before you go or clean up a bit -just out of common courteous. I used to be concerned about the things you mentioned, but now I don't think about it at all when I go to the doctor male or female.

just take a shower and make sure you feel clean... you don't have to shave or trim or anything you normaly wouldn'd do... Its a gynecologist... they look at vaginas all day every day.... that's thier job, there is nothing they haven't seen before, don't be nervis... do whatever makes you comfortable about yourself...

well, i am glad you did your homework, that way you wont be too shocked by anything they are going to do. be sure to ask questions if you have them..have a voice in your healthcare. as for the pubic area, dont do anything you wouldnt normally do...they have seen it all already.
