First of all, politics is a heated issue. It represents the core of one's beliefs, and when that is challenged, of course you'll get mad. However, this doesn't mean that you should scream your head off. Most are probably just too immature to discuss in a civilized manner.
Secondly, you're overexaggerating Christians. Or else they're not true Christians. We don't go around cursing or mouthing off to people who don't share our beliefs. I'm personally very tolerant. It might also because I'm Canadian, but I'm sure that my faith has a large part.
Your question asks people to keep an open mind. You should do so yourself as well. Stereotyping is a really bad way to get to know a group of people, politicians or Christians.

well people are passionate and emotional about things that they feel affect there lives in adverse or positive ways, and when people get emotional and passionate, patience and sadly often an open heart becomes closed.as far as fundementalist christians thats a completely different issue...or is it? without a doubt they are fanatics in the true sense of the word as much as a muslim fanatic .so they do not start with and open heart they do not start with anything but breeding there own hatred against others that are not in there "club" i often feel sorry for the fundementalist christians in the sense that they have completely missed the message of jesus which is tolerance, love and compassion....no matter who or what the circumstances. i had to come back here after reading some of your answers from others, especially the christians,or should i call them "true" christians,no matter what all the individual christians believe they are "true: christians but my experience so far has been the same intolerance and hate that the other "true" christian has said, they sadly are hypocrites, all believing themselves to have the "true" belief, whether muslim, christian or jew a fanatic is a fanatic, and they are all filled with hate and intolerance, ask them how they feel about homo sexuality or abortion or other religions,is that the message that jesus was trying to give, love everyone...except those guys,is that the message of mohammed,or yawheh,i think not,im pretty sure it was love and be kind to all no matter what, god loves all of us,we are his/her children

A true Christian will not harrass you about that. I am a Christian and if I came to tell you about God and Jesus then I did my job and kept to my belief. If you are not interested then on with life.
I suspect there are people out there antagonizing you. If you are easily bothered then my guess would be you know the right answer, but don't want to deal with it. I hope I helped. Good luck, and if you do want to talk about Christianity then find a person who cares about your needs, not a salesperson :)

I haven't seen anyone claiming to be Christian and telling you to go to h__L.
But this does remind me of how the students at Columbia greeted the guys from the Minutemen. Talk about not wanting to have an open mind and listen. THAT was a fiasco.

You can wait forever for the party that is in this for the money. They will never change and your patience will be wasted. They are focused on power. As a citizen, you should work now to change things for the better so that each person can share in the power.

Exactly. But see, the Christians have to make everyone conform to their ways and control people... Subconciously they are probably jealous of those of us who don't live the sheltered ways that they do... So they attack us...

that's answers for you. i have gotten a ton of hate emails. but they don't sway my convictions. i rather get the mail then reported to the yahoo man. i hate not knowing who reported me. but with religion and politics people are just so wound up that they cannot fathom another view, thus the name calling and hate mail. you learn to ignore it after awhile.
