I have had a cold for a few days, and i have been coughing alot. I think I may have pulled a muscle or something. Like I have a weird feeling in my heart area, sometimes i can feel my heart beating against my chest and it feels really weird. My arm goes a little numb somtimes too, but when i move and readjust it goes away. When I cough it hurts too. Im a guy and im 17 if that helps.

Sounds like you have possibly pulled a muscle or cracked a rib. Both can be done by deep coughing.
You really ought to go to the doctor and get an xray and meds.

You could have what is called "pleurisy". All that means is that you have inflammation in the lining of the lungs. But it has to be treated to get better. Unless it is endocarditis which is much more serious and requires medical treatment and hospitalization with iv antibiotic, heart monitoring, etc. It's caused by a bacterial infection that goes untreated. If you are running fever, coughing up yellow, then it's bacteria. If your sputum is green or blood tinged, it's probably pneumonia. The feeling of your chest pounding is called palpatations, it's an irregular heart beat. You should see a doctor right away.

A) If you haven't taken anything for the cold, it might be something like an anxiety attack, and you should really talk to your GP about this.
B) If you've been taking pseudophedrine (or anything similarly named), then its probably just a side effect of this. It commonly (i.e. I've personally experienced it, and its listed as a side effect on the container). Sudafed, Allegra, cocaine, etc. will all cause this kind of reaction in most people; its exacerbated if you've upped your dosage.
--BTW, regarding the previous comments: its not bronchitis or micro valve prolapse or pleurisy or even an abnormal heart rate. At least, its not likely. I'd put good money its due to some typical OTC medicine you're taking.

see your doctor asap ....it could be a reaction to some over the counter medication you are taking...but it sounds like you are experiencing an abnormal heart rythm at times. Have your doctor do an EKG and check out your heart. Sometimes this can be caused by ingredients in cold medicines over the counter...be sure to tell the doctor what medicines you are taking.

Do you smoke? Perhaps you could have the onset of pnemonia or bronchitus. Either way, even if it is just a cold, it wouldn't hurt to get checked out. I hope you feel better.

I would go in for a checkup - if you can have something like walking pnuemonia; but it can also be more serious - get it looked at
Rikki - you are not correct - you can go into cardiac arrest at any age - it's just more frequent with older adults.

Don't worry.. it's not like you are old enough to have a heart attack. It's probably you are stressed out and weakened by the cold and when you are weakened you just like to think more than you usually do and end up exaggerating it.

My best guess is that you have a problem called mitral valve prolapse. It CAN be very serious. Take appropriate measures.

You need to see a doctor to rule out pneumonia or other complications. Don't diagnose yourself.
