There is a free program I use called Open Office Org, that has a type of Power Point and Word. You can save your stuff in Microsoft word or Powerpoint formats. You can download it at: http://www.openoffice.org/
When you want to save your stuff as word, choose File, then Save As, and in the block that pops up you will see a block that says Save As Type, and there is a drop down list of all types of formats, including Microsoft Word 6.0.
